Fernando specialises in the valuation of investment portfolios, alternative investments and ventures. He has extensive experience in the valuation for M&A, licensing, investment, accounting and Expert Witness. Fernando also advises investors and funds seeking to provide debt and equity, and to secure and monitor the performance of investments.

Fernando’s work involves economic and financial modelling and due diligence for strategic asset management and investor positioning, as well as the valuation of intangible assets/IP (technology, patents, brands, software, trademarks and copyright) working with investment funds, SMEs and high growth start-up companies.

Fernando has over 19 years of experience in the design, execution and management of projects, particularly in the technology and healthcare fields.  In the UK, Europe, US, Brazil and UAE he has worked on more than 100 projects involving valuation for investment purposes, assisting businesses with the maximisation of value from their assets, and successfully connecting Funds and investors with innovation driven business opportunities. Currently he is an invited lecturer at the University of Cambridge and London Business School on topics related to innovation, entrepreneurship and valuation in Private Equity.

He has broad international research and industry experience and has been Director and part of the founding team of three technology start-up companies where he led consultancy services, finance, and strategy. He has previously held the post of Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Cambridge. Fernando has also designed and led the delivery of a Master’s Programme and has acted as Academic Programme Director for an Executive Education Programme for the Cambridge Judge Business School. He holds a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California-Santa Barbara, a MSc and a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in Materials Science from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in a joint programme with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Post Doc at the University of Cambridge.

He speaks English and Portuguese fluently and has high conversational proficiency in Spanish and French. Fernando is a member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) and he is currently the Chair of the IA Management and IP Valuation Committee for LES Britain & Ireland.
